The DHC-6 Twin Otter was developed by de Havilland Canada in 1965. The BNF Basic version is also equipped with enhanced AS3X+ technology that smooths out the effects of wind and turbulence better than ever before. Plus, it features optional-use SAFE Select technology that makes it even easier to fly — along with differential thrust and motor reversing for special ground handling and other capabilities! Both versions include Spektrum servos, a Dual Smart Lite ESC, plus 3S and 4S compatible motors.

The larger than 1.2m but still convenient size means you can transport it fully assembled for flying at a wide variety of locations with paved, grass, or packed dirt surfaces, such as large parks, sports fields, and RC flying fields. Your adventures won't stop there, though — remove the landing gear, install the optional floats also used for popular Timber 1.2m and 1.5m models (sold separately or in a money-saving combo), and now you're ready to fly at large ponds and small lakes!

The BNF Basic version is also equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR631+ receiver featuring exclusive and enhanced AS3X+ along with optional-use SAFE Select technologies. It also features standard differential thrust and optional-use motor reversing for special ground handling and other capabilities. The BNF Basic version Twin Otter 1.4m is equipped with exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ technology works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence and deliver an even more locked-in feel than standard AS3X, which makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits and automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally, and only AS3X+ will be active.
This BNF aircraft is equipped with a receiver that is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that makes programming your transmitter as easy as a few clicks of a button. When you bind your transmitter to an STF-equipped aircraft, all programming parameters download automatically from the receiver. Switch assignments, rates, expo, telemetry, and voice callouts configure themselves. No lengthy step-by-step instructions. No continual adjustments. Just push-button convenience that gets you flying faster.
Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!
The Twin Otter 1.4m is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Dual Smart Lite ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly. Plus, the receiver is loaded with a Smart Transmitter Model File that allows you to import all settings for NX and iX series transmitters during the binding process.
Differential thrust and optional-use motor/thrust reversing (standard on the BNF Basic version; Smart-compatible receiver required for the PNP version) offer improved ground handling for easier taxiing, takeoffs and landings, along with the ability to perform special aerobatic maneuvers. Both features are also extremely helpful when flying from water using the optional floats that are sold separately or in a money-saving combo (the same floats also used for popular Timber 1.2m and 1.5m models).
The factory-installed twin brushless power system features a 25-amp Spektrum Avian Dual Smart Lite ESC plus specially-tuned motors that deliver an abundance of thrust with a single 3S 2200–3200mAh LiPo battery. Or you can install a 4S battery for even more power and unlimited vertical capability without needing any modifications or upgrades!
No glue or specials tools are required for final assembly so you can have the Twin Otter 1.4m ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery! And although it's conveniently sized to fit fully assembled in almost any vehicle, you can remove the two-piece wing with hands-free connections for easier storage and transport.
The lightweight yet durable EPO airframe is composite reinforced for added strength. It features a stronger and easier to repair/service nose wheel along with a more durable digital and metal-geared servo for steering/rudder control.
