Skill Level 3 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up and fly similar class models. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly models like the E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.0m, T-28 Trojan 1.1m, the 1.2m to 1.5m warbirds, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the P-51D Mustang 1.5m BNF Basic version.

The BNF Basic version P-51D Mustang 1.5m is equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR637TA+ receiver that features exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally, and only AS3X+ will be active.

This BNF aircraft is equipped with a receiver that is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that makes programming your transmitter as easy as a few clicks of a button. When you bind your transmitter to an STF-equipped aircraft, all programming parameters download automatically from the receiver if you choose. Switch assignments, rates, expo, telemetry, and voice callouts configure themselves. No lengthy step-by-step instructions. No continual adjustments. Just push-button convenience that gets you flying faster.

The P-51D Mustang 1.5m is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including overall battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR637TA+ installed in the BNF Basic version) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly.

Factory-installed LED navigation lights, operational flaps and control surfaces with pocket hinges — even sequenced main gear and tailwheel doors — are functional Extra Scale features that take your experience to another level.

The P-51D Mustang 1.5m features an accurate outline and an abundance of Extra Scale details including molded-in panel lines and hatches, guns and removable drop tanks — plus many more details than you typically find on similar class and smaller models.

The factory-installed power system features a 100-amp ESC plus a proven and reliable high-power brushless outrunner motor that works with the large-diameter four-blade propeller and a 6S 3200–7000+mAh LiPo battery to deliver better-than-scale speed and unlimited vertical performance.

The wide-spaced main gear feature reliable electric retracts equipped with durable metal components and shock-absorbing struts with scale wheels and softer tires make it possible to fly from a wider variety of surfaces including paved runways and some grass. The main gear and the retractable tailwheel also feature sequenced gear doors for added scale function and appearance.

Construction with fully-molded EPO material makes it possible to replicate complex detail and shapes in a lightweight yet durable form. The result is an outstanding scale appearance that's easy to maintain and delivers the best possible flight experience, plus the factory-installed servos with ball-link equipped linkages deliver crisp and precise control at every speed.

Factory-finished in the “Big Beautiful Doll” scheme modeled after an aircraft that Colonel John Landers flew in World War II. The scheme is fully painted with factory-applied decals so there is no exposed white foam to enhance the scale appearance and high-quality finish.
