    Overview

The North American T-28 'Trojan', a piston powered two seater trainer aircraft, was the last piston powered trainer to enter service with the United States Air Force and Navy. Designed in the 1950's, this aircraft played a key role in helping pilots transition from basic trainers to jet aircraft.

The T-28 version we are offering is based on a plane that was restored to airworthy in 1991-1994. It has the distinctive "Just Dreamin'" nose art as shown below. Our version has a separate decal of the nose art so it's up to you whether or not to apply it.

The Arrows T-28 is one of the easiest flying aircraft on the market today. A beginner with basic flight experience could easily fly the T-28 with ease- without the assistance of a gyro system.

Featuring a realistic three bladed propeller, rivets, panel lines, retracts, landing gear doors and functional flaps, the T-28 looks as real as its full sized counterpart.

A powerful 40A ESC and 3536 850kV power system provides more than adequate thrust whenever necessary.

The Arrows Hobby T-28 is a perfect aircraft for pilots transitioning from high winged aircraft and those who are looking for a scale aircraft that is easy to fly.

    Issue with nose gear

I have yet to maiden but I was frustrated with the nose gear, specifically ability to retract properly. After a couple of hours of trying to get the node gear not to bind when retracting and getting the doors to close I discovered the problem, from factory: The nose gear steering rod is to be installed "under" the white nylon bracket roughly in the middle of the pushrod in the wheel bay. Mine from factory was on top and was causing the binding. Also, the spring to hold the doors open and then closed is very weak.

Good quality plane paint nice easy to see in air. three minor issues . Main gear doors hit wheels, just removed the doors, some of the stickers were coming off , put a little clear tape on them no more problems. Maybe they should change to waterslide decals. CG in manual is off using a 3s 3300 still had to add 5oz of weight. Moved the cg back to 80mm removed all the weight same battery CG is prefect. It is my new favorite plane take it to the field every time i go Thinking about getting another as a spare just a great flying plane.

This airplane is very good to transition from a high wing airplane to a low wing airplane, while still flying with tri-cycle landing gears. The plus side is that the airplane has retracting and it is very quickly put together and the pilot will be flying the next day or in hours after completion.

Good looking, easy to assemble and fly. So much fun! Had a parkzone 1.1m with over 250 flights and this one will get just as many. Two small issues. I had read and looked at all articles and videos of this plane. The CG seemed to be an issue. Used https://www.sefsd.org/resources/what-you-need-to-know-about-rc/online-calculators/cg-calculator/. CG is 3.1 inches back of the poke out at the root. Other problem was that a spring on the front gear door was missing and the gear would hang up. Great buy and worth the wait!

A full house plane that is easy to fly and catches everyone's eye. Very similar to the old Parkzone T28 1100. Put it together in 30 minutes with no problems. CG is a bit tricky, before maiden I calculated with an online app that instructed what to measure and allowed input into app. Maiden went well. Very little trimming and it flew like a T-28. Only problem was with the timing of the nose gear and the doors. Doors are adjustable so it was corrected quickly. Well worth the money for a backseat plane.

Beautiful plane! It would together very easily. It's one of my favorites in the hangar. It's got plenty of power and the color scheme looks great in the air. I love the sound of a full speed pass with this one. Also, this is the perfect size to throw in the back of the car and go. Currently working out a warranty matter but presently, very happy with the plane and the HobbyZone customer service.

The T-28 is really well made with a surprising amount of detail for a model in this price range.
The landing gear and gear doors are nicely coordinated and operate flawlessly.
The wheels are made to scale (small) so fly from a hard surface or close cropped grass. I land it "gear up" on the rough grass.
Flight performance in great, with good stability and can be pushed to do snap rolls and will pull out of a spin by simply releasing the sticks.
The large clear canopy looks great and the pilot is always happy, regardless of how I fly!

Really nice model. Have not flown it yet, but it 's a Trojan and they all fly great. I'm sure there will not be issue as all the reviews on Youtube are glowing. It would cost at least another hundred dollars to the retracts and flaps to the Eflite version of this plane.

Arrows puts out well made planes at a very good price point. Just look at some of the Youtube videos reveiws and you'll find it is true. Shipping is fast and packaged well. The T-28 itself is a blast to fly. It is a snappy one so suggest low rates until you get use to it. Thrills and a fun fly. Love it! Want more in different color schemes. Easy build - very easy. I will be buying from them again. Thanks Hobbyzone - Keep up the good work.

To have a smaller T-28 version with the features of most larger one is just outstanding! I wanted a much larger T-28 than my current 800mm version but none are currently available. Having liked the scheme on this plane personally and seeing the retracts with nose gear doors and flaps I had to give this one a shot. It flies very fast for a 3 cell and flies just like a T-28 should fly and will come down to a crawl when ready to land. I usually covert my 3 cell planes to 4 cell but there is no need to with this plane. I'll likely order the Bearcat as well now. This plane with a coat of gloss Poly turns heads at my club.

Although I've been looking for a much bigger T-28 this one rang all my buttons. Loaded with an AR636 with a T-28 download the thing flies great! I figured this plane would really need the 4S upgrade the same as most of my 3S planes do but not this one. Amazing speed and power on 3 cell so I will leave this one as is and use my spare 50 amp ESC in another bird. Coated in clear gloss Poly the paint really pops on this plane also. I personally love this Air Force scheme.

I first purchased one of the earlier models of the Arrows T-28 and that was my go to plane for years until I finally crashed it trying to fly it in 30 MPH winds (not advisable for any RC aircraft). I have been wanting another and finally pulled the trigger and purchased the newer version. They made a few improvements, but none that are note worthy. It is still the basically same amazing plane. I would like my club to start using these in their T-28 races. Hopefully one day. The brand they use doesn't have retracts and is not as fun as this one. Plus this has really great flaps, so if you ca coming in too hot, you can give it a little down and deploy the flaps for nice soft landing. Still, not a first plane. This was my 4th plane I think, but I would say it is a good second plane or first war bird.

Ok, even before purchase I had decided to go 4S with this design. I upgraded the ESC to 45A/5v even before flying; so it's flying wonderfully! So far I have tried flying a lot on 3S LIHV batteries and it handles with power quite well. Yesterday I flew it for the first time with a 4S 3300/45C battery and when I went to full throttle the canopy blew off at altitude! I landed and placed it back on noticing that it didn't have that "click" as the canopy was placed back on... So I trimmed some of the foam from the canopy to clear the battery and I am planning to add two more magnets toward the rear of the canopy, I hope this will help, I may have to go mechanical!

I built my own Flite Test mini Trojan to see what all the fuss was about. It was super fast and super fun, so I jumped on board the Trojan bandwagon with an E-flite 1.1m Trojan. It flies well, but is just missing those scale features....until I found the Arrows T-28! It has functioning flaps AND retracts! It flies so clean and crisp in the air. I will need to set up a flaps to elevator mix as it balloons up when I drop the flaps, but otherwise it was a wonderful maiden flight. I did basic maneuvers; loops and rolls. It doesn't quite have enough rudder authority (even with the control horn all the way in) to do a knife edge, but I have other planes that will do that easily. It excels at handling gusty winds and tracks well through all basic moves. I was also impressed with its ability to snap! A great plane and solid addition to my air fleet.

Flies very well on 3s 2200 batteries, I'm at 4:30 on the timer and only down to 3.9v per cell flying aerobaticly. My CG is ~50mm back from the main leading edge, not the wing root as shown in the manual. I put the battery as far forward as possible and it balances out very well. The CG in the manual is WAY too far forward.

Takeoff is smooth and scale-like, and it slows down very nicely for landing with or without flaps. No bad tendencies so far. I use about 20-30% expo and it flies very well at half throttle. I had 3 issues with it: 1 - One of the plastic links for the nose gear door was broken. Not the greatest plastic but the nub still functions with the rubber band all the way up. 2 - There was flashing left on the leading edges of the wings and tail, a lot! I took a #11 xacto blade and carefully removed it so the leading edge was smooth. A little 600 grit sandpaper helped too. 3 - The nose gear wouldn't fully close the gear doors when retracting. The nose gear was turning on the way up and not going all the way (not unique to this plane). I put the nose steering on a separate channel (#7) and set the radio to force the nose wheel steering to a specific position when I raise the gear. It goes up and closes the doors correctly every time now.

This is a really nice plane. It's built solid and it flies great. A plane this price with flaps and retractable landing gear is well worth it. I'm a fan of the unique paint scheme also.
The only thing that I'm not a fan of is the cowling. It is super thin plastic that is guaranteed to break on any type of a rough landing. I'd recommend that you spend some time reinforcing it on the back side with fiberglass, or plan on replacing it often.

    Calculated CG-by my numbers

    Quality

    Fun

    Value

    Durability

    Appearance

I'm pretty happy with the Trojan overall. I have been dealing with it being very touchy at the elevator even with minimal throw. This usually points to the CG being off. I've looked all over trying to find a reliable CG remedy for this plane even before the Arrows rebranding but I only found other frustrated people who've added between 1 and 3 ounces of lead up front to bring the nose down to where the plane balances. We all know battery weight and placement factor in also. I think I'm going to end up with 2-ounces of added lead and forget about using the light 3S 2200 pack in this. I think it needs the weight of a 2700-3300 battery. I decided to see if the specified 45-50mm CG was correct so I did some math and made a pattern of the wing-half to find the MAC line location from which the center of lift/center of gravity would be measured from the leading edge. It is at this point I verified the CG at indeed 45mm HOWEVER, that is from the leading edge at the MAC line. Drawing a perpendicular line from the MAC line to the fuselage established the CG to be approximately 80mm from the datum illustrated in the manual-not 45mm. So the plane is not as tail heavy as believed since it is the CG position called out in the manual being to far forward at the 45mm specified. So I believe the correct CG is actually at 80mm, not 45mm. With that said, you would think not much lead would be needed afterall but as I said, my plane is still tail heavy so I'm probably going to end up with 2-oz. of lead up front to balance the plane out. I would like to hear what others have found and I could be way off base. I'm awaiting shipment of the Bearcat and there appears to be mystery surrounding CG and required weight on this one too.

    A Pretty Good Second Plane

I bought the T-28 Trojan as my second plane. I'm interested in warbirds and am looking into getting one of those as my third plane eventually. The T-28 is a good fit for a second plane and handles easily in the air. The only negative I had with the plane was that on the first flight, the nose landing gear didn't come down for the landing. It seems that the servo case for the nose gear isn't tight enough for the gears to engage. I've ordered a replacement front gear from Hobby Zone which I hope will work better, but the servo design may be flawed. This model is a bit cheaper than quite a few other models of this size so it could be considered good value for money. However, I would consider buying a more expensive, higher quality plane if you can afford it.

THE T-28 IS EASY TO LAND JUST REMEMBER TO CARRY A LITTLE POWER ON FINAL....THE PROP ON AN ELECTRIC AIRPLANE ACTS LIKE AN AIR BRAKE WHEN FULLY IDLED BACK...EASY TO GET TOO SLOW. TAKEOFFS ARE TOTALLY EASY THANKS TO THE NOSE GEAR, AND THE T-28 IS MY ONLY NOSE GEAR AIRPLANE, WHICH IS ABOUT THE ONLY AIRPLANE THAT LOOKS GOOD WITH A NOSE GEAR.

The plane came with a small crack in the cowling. Notified HobbyZone and had anew one no questions asked in 5 days . Cudos to the guys at Arrows/HobbyZone. The plane also came with a loose retract cover. I found this out on my second take off when the part floated down to the ground. It also caused the retract to jam half way down. Closer inspection showed that a little screw holding it on was never tightened from the factory. Also the washer on the axel was on the wrong side of the wheel allowing the wheel to rub/jam against the retract arm. It is a good plane, with great service by HobbyZone but with sloppy assembly from the factory. I went over all the screws I could see and found a few that were not tight. I would buy it again but check everything first.

So when I first put this together, I had a real problem with the CG. Didn't seem to balance at recommended points with any of my batteries. initially used a lot of nose weight then realized this couldn't be right, got rid of most - but not all of the added weight and kind of accepted a wait and see in regard to CG - well it is flying great now with minimal weight in the nose and I have to say it is a great deal of fun flying this model. However, I'm going on my 4th nose gear assembly. Any rough landing (most recently I didn't even think I hit it roughly) and that gear breaks. 3rd set is now stuck down, won't come up. Ordered my fourth set. If this one breaks in a questionable circumstance, I'll probably give up on the plane and move on.

I'm impressed with the appearance. Model however is so heavy for her size, notwithstanding the added counter weights to compensate the CG. which weigh at 1520 g compared to original 1350g. There's no slow flying for this model for it will drop like a rock. Even with flaps deployed the model don't slow down, so it's always a hot landing
which is too much for the landing gear to hold on, I don't for how long. I hope the manufacturer could could make some modifications to make the model lighter.

    Short life

    Quality

    Fun

    Value

    Durability

    Appearance

It took a while before I was able to fly this. During its brief life it flew very stable and fast on a 3S battery, with no need of a gyro. It is solidly built for the most part, except for the rice-paper thin cowling, most everything functioned well. The other weak spot is the housing for the nose gear which is also very thin plastic and will easily crack, rendering the nose gear unusable. It should be reinforced before the first flight. The landing gear has no shock-absorbency, and the wheels are as hard as a rock, so hard landings will be quite jarring.
My experience was that on the first flight the motor kept cutting out, and I had to land short of the runway, damaging the airplane. Since the ESC was highly suspect, I replaced the ESC and motor with another Arrows pair. After patching it back together with the new motor and ESC, it flew well for a couple of circuits and then the canopy flew off and it inexplicably snap rolled to the right and spiraled into the ground, destroying it.
This was the 2nd of 3 Arrows models to befall such a fate within two weeks. The 3rd, the Mini-Viper, has been a blast to fly and is holding up well, although I did install carbon fiber rods in the fuselage. I might still consider buying another Arrows product because I like the 1100mm size and the fact that they can fly well on 3s batteries. However, the first thing I would do is throw out the ESC, and replace it with a high quality device. I applaud Hobbyzone for selling relatively inexpensive models, but you don’t save anything by using cheap electronics and paper-thin plastic parts. I recently purchased the FMS 1100mm Zero, and the overall quality and features are significantly better for about the same price.
I realize there have been a lot of customers who have had no issues with Arrows products, but I would caution anyone you may be playing Russian Roulette with the stock ESC’s . I hope Arrows RC would up their game as well.

Disappointed in the quality of this plane compared to other similar planes the same style and size.
