It's the perfect trainer because it's very durable and is equipped with exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology that helps to prevent overcontrol, loss of orientation and crashes so nearly everyone can learn to fly successfully. It also features Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced flight modes so you can choose the level of stability and control you need at the flip of a switch.
Welcome to the exciting world of RC (Radio Controlled) flight! If you've ever dreamed of taking to the skies, Horizon Hobby has you covered. We are committed to engineering aircraft that you can learn to fly with successfully even if you've never flown RC before. Every HobbyZone® aircraft we offer features industry-leading design and technology developed by experts to keep you in control and learning at your own pace so you can turn your dreams of flight into a reality!
The HobbyZone® AeroScout™ S is the perfect trainer because it makes learning to fly an RC airplane easier and more fun than ever before! It's equipped with exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology that helps to prevent overcontrol, loss of orientation and crashes so nearly everyone can learn to fly successfully. Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced modes allow you to choose the level of stability and control you need, or are ready to try, at the flip of a switch. Plus you can instantly return to steady flight using Panic Recovery with the push of a button in any flight mode. Its unique "pusher" power configuration offers improved safety along with better propeller and motor protection, and its built with advanced EPO material that makes it extremely durable. Oversized tires and a steerable nose wheel make it easy to take off from and land on a variety of surfaces including grass at large parks, soccer and other suitable flying fields.
And the fun doesn't stop after you learn how to fly! The powerful and efficient brushless power system delivers long flight times and provides plenty of speed and power to perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls and even inverted (upside down) flight. Plus, the lightweight design and low wing loading deliver a very wide flight envelope and incredible handling that even experienced pilots will appreciate and enjoy. The BNF Basic version (HBZ3850) is the perfect choice for those pilots because it allows them to use their favorite Spektrumâ„¢ transmitter along with batteries and chargers they may already own to fly with.
The AeroScout's unique design and "pusher" power configuration helps to protect the propeller and motor while also offering improved safety. Plus its construction with advanced EPO material delivers a lightweight yet durable airframe that's tough enough to handle everyday flying punishment without getting bent out of shape. And in the unfortunate event you damage any airframe parts or components and can't repair them, a full line of replacement parts is readily available.
The AeroScout S 1.1m arrives mostly factory-assembled with the power system, receiver and servos installed. All you need to do is finish some quick and easy final assembly, without the use of glue or special tools, and you'll be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery!
The wide-stance tricycle landing gear with oversized tires and a steerable nose wheel offers improved ground handling for easier take offs and landings on a wide variety of surfaces from pavement to grass and even dirt.
This Bind-N-Fly (BNF®) Basic version comes out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum™ 2.4GHz receiver installed, so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible Spektrum DSMX®/DSM2® equipped transmitter, install a charged battery and fly!
If this is your first RC airplane, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the controls, revolutionary and Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents overcontrol, loss of orientation and crashes. It also offers multiple modes that deliver more control as your skills progress at the flip of a switch:
Beginner Mode
In this mode, the airplane has limited pitch (up/down) and bank (left/right) angles that prevent overcontrol which could lead to a loss of orientation and a crash. When the control sticks are released, the airplane automatically returns to level flight allowing you to relax and enjoy simply 'steering' the airplane through the sky. Best of all, takeoffs are as simple as giving full throttle and letting the airplane fly off a suitable surface, or by giving it a quick hand launch, and landings are as easy as lowering the throttle and letting it glide to a landing on its own.
Intermediate Mode
More freedom in pitch and bank, but still prevents overcontrol and does not return to level flight on its own. This mode allows you to make tighter turns in smaller areas and to climb and descend faster as your skills advance.
Experienced Mode
In this flight mode there are no pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns, knife edge flight and more.
This is seriously the perfect trainer for anyone great little plan to have fun with too
Many of our club members have one of these. Mine makes the trip to the field every time. A good trainer, but fully aerobatic as well (yes, it will do a knife edge). This is one of the best models from Horizon ever.
The AreoScout 1.1 is a terrific plane to learn on, and has the ability to continue to entertain and perform as your flying skills grow. After flying this plane for a year and learning much, I got over confident and cratered the first one into the pavement. It was a no brainer to spend the $169 and get another one sent right away, with everything but the controller and use the one from the last plane. This plane is stable and super easy to fly with the SAFE feature. It handles a little wind without problems, has enough power to do most anything you want, and running 50% throttle I get around 20 minutes of flight from the included battery. My Carbon Cub only gets around 5-7 minutes and does not handle nearly as well. This is my grab and go plane when I just want to have fun flying.
As a tri-cycle gear airplane, this is the best choice for someone just starting out in RC. As a pusher-prop airplane, with superb handling, this is top choice for learning to fly FPV. This model truely takes off and lands almost hands off. Another great feature of this aircraft it the amount of space under the hood! okay, one thing i dont like... the battery connector plug. I am a T60 fan. I'm not buying into this smart plug thing.
Great sport and trainer flyer! Enjoyable airplane!
Fine service from Dan and Bill.
Thanks!!!!
Like I told you I think I made a review for horizon which is the same but I tell you what that scout is some amazing plane awesome I highly recommend it to any beginner I own five of them I have one with one motor I have one with two motors I have one with three motors and they're hot rods also have one that I modified and it flys on a 4 cell and it's a little rocket does almost 100 miles an hour what a lot of fun everybody at our field here in Arizona has got one thanks again hobbyzone you guys are the bomb
This is a great plane to get and fly. The setup is easy, directions are accurate and quick setup to get in the air. The plane will do all sorts of acrobatics with a forgiving airspeed and good recovery in case of errors. I am learning all sorts of new moves. My only wish is that a plug and play version was available. I like using my own receivers. The flight time on average throttle is about 9 minutes. Plenty of time to stay in the air.
I expect the foam to break I understand that during a crash. But the rudder servo 2 out of 2 crashes?? I even replaced with titanium gear servo and it still broke. I think the issue is the nose wheel - it just takes too much punishment in a frontal landing or crash. Good plane but be prepared to buy lots of servos.
Hi Dan,
I am very pleased with this purchase and like this plane. I noticed that there was some differences between this model and the one it was replacing. This model has increased bank angles as opposed to the first one I purchased The first one I bought needed a significant more amount of rudder as opposed to this one. Since they are the same plane I assumed that the limited bank angles would be the same, I don't know if the difference was one was RTF and the other is BNF?
Very game little plane. Not the best trainer, but certainly the best second plane. Surprisingly aerobatic.
