This is my third electric foam RC airplane. I started with the Champ micro. Great. Bought and crashed a Cessna 182 34" wingspan (fatally after 7 seconds). Now I am waiting for the grass to grow a bit on the levee to get comfortable with the airlerons on the P 51. I have only done computer flight simulators and I recommend hooking up with experienced RC pilots to avoid destroying your plane. These micro are much more durable because of their size. I hope we see more 4 channel scale micros since space (storage and flying areas) is a problem. I love the idea of learning to fly different period aircraft without a gigantic investment. This plane behaves very much like P-51 in the computer simulation and I feel that this is the next best thing to really flying one. I hope to see full function micro WW1 aircraft. Great product.

I can't believe this plane survived my inexperience and incompetence - it's loaded with features- rudder w/ tailwheel, aelerons, and elevator. You can't touch a plane like this for anywhere near the price. Like an old times watch - takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!!! And if you screw up badly like I did - HobbyZone has a full complement of replacement parts at a good price!

Flew one my buddy bought a couple of months ago, and it was so much fun that I finally went and got my own. I would be a newbie and this plane is certainly well above my ability, but it's still a blast and I haven't rendered it grounded yet. Quite durable with exception for rudder, one crash and that's getting some tape and glue. Definitely not for beginners. Plane is very responsive, rolls easily and loops well also. It is a bit nose heavy and has a tendency to dive out of the box (it does have trim so you can rectify that). It climbs like a champ as well. Detail is good, but not exceptional, if you want that though you should just buy a model plane. Does well in light wind, but doesn't have the gusto or size to overcome anything above 15mph. Also it does require either a hand launch or an actual flat surface for take off. It will just get stuck in grass. I recommend this to anyone who has experience and skill with ailerons. For those like me (newbies) try something else, or be sure to buy a big bottle of gorilla glue.

Good plane. Can't fly really if there's wind. It has really good reaction time. All in all, very fun.

This is my first 4 channel aircraft. Broke the vertical stab on the first flight. Easy to repair with fam safe CA and tape. Next flight I tried at half throttle, flew like a dream even though I was learning to use ailerons as I went. It has survived all my 'learning experiences.' Great plane when you are ready to move up to 4 channels but not ready to crash a lot of $$$$$.

    Pros: Easy to fly

Cons: The motor mounts broke after a few crashes
The wings dont take well to hard landings
The control surfaces are a little small for aerobatics

    Perhaps mine was a dud?

I bought the UM P-51 as my first 4-Channel with ailerons, and I took it to my local park to give it a shot. I crashed on my first few flights because I was unfamiliar with ailerons, but the Mustang only had a creased vertical tail fin and worn wing edges. I tried again the next day, but the motor seemed to only have half its power on a full battery when it was working fine the other day. The motor eventually "fixed itself", but it seemed slightly underpowered. Eventually this underpowering led to me losing control of the plane and crashing it a few flights later, cracking the nose wide open and ripping the motor/gearbox out of its mount. If it wasn't for the motor I would have been fine.

Overall, if the motor wasn't a dud I would have liked it more. It was a bit tricky for me so I think I'll try a T-28 Trojan next time since I'm still learning ailerons.

Bought this as my very first plane, thought I'd be alright because I did good on the simulator. Not the case at all. I highly suggest getting a beginner plane 3 channel for anyone like me no matter what! The landing gear wheels broke of with ease and the rudder is very weak. I should just trade for something easier to fly. :(
