After reviewing many brands and models, I selected a rather pricey unit. With this in mind, I called HobbyZone and explained my experience (none) and methodology for my selection. At this point, the rep said it was a good choice, however, all newcomers experience multiple crashes, and crashing an expensive unit wasn't practical. He suggested a lower priced unit that was very sturdy. I have made dozens of flights and almost as many crashes. The unit survived all of this without needing any repairs. After setting it upright and powering it up, off it goes once more. I thank the rep for his help and advice. I am pleased with the choice.
After trying out many toys and not toys, I love this quad. But the LEDs don't indicate whether it's coming towards you or gone forever. And I wish it came in a BNF version.
This quadcopter works great it's already taken 5 TERRIBLE crashes and keeps working every time, my complaints are that it doesn't have a power switch, you have to unplug the battery and whenever it flips it turns off, it is somewhat hard to fly but it's ok if you get used to it, I wouldn't suggest flying too high or far but overall it's a very nice quadcopter.
Hobbico Inc. should be ashamed of this product. Their Dromida Ominus website falsely advertises that the quadcopters are tough and indestructible. Of course, we weren't expecting them to be indestructible. But these things won't even survive a crash in soft grass from heights of 10' without cracking the frame and battery casings and bending the prop shafts, which nullifies their claims.
The first one we unboxed didn't even make it off the ground before one of the motors burned up, then another, and then the main board. I purchased three of these for my grandkids for Christmas. They have yet to have one last a full battery charge before something is broken or burned up. All of these kids have solid RC experience. It's not them; it's the poorly made quads. These things are a sad joke on your wallet.
To be fair, Hobbico has sent us some replacement parts already, but for me this has been a $79 mistake times 3. And it ended up being some pretty terrible Christmas presents for the grandkids!
I cannot recommend this product at all. Please spend your hard earned cash on something different. If there was any way I could send these back, I would.
