The Husky is a PA-18 inspired, high-winged light utility aircraft which made its first flight in 1986.
Arrows RC has recreated this backcountry workhorse — from rivet lines and body panels to the predictable STOL flight characteristics — without overlooking any detail when creating the Husky 1800mm.
Packed full of attractive features, the Arrows Husky 1800mm is prebuilt with rugged CNC landing gear, oversized balloon tires, and functional flaps for true STOL backcountry operations. A 3541-KV750 motor paired with a 45A ESC gives the aircraft near vertical performance, while the screw-together assembly means the Husky is ready for flight in no time.
Perfect for beginners and experts alike, the Husky is the ultimate bush plane every pilot needs!
This is one rugged bird . Took her up for three flights today after one very easy build. Gotta tell ya folks , she is a winner!!! STRONG ...STRONG...STRONG landing gear. Solid construction! easy all bolt together design! I needed zero trim in the wings and just little trim with the tail feathers. If windy put a bigger 4s in her and then to wind is no concern. Very much a STOL aircraft with plenty of powerr!!!!! Get yourself one!!!!!!!
High quality components, good fit and finish. Flies like an old favorite from the first flight.
Sam
I give this plane a 5+, fun and easy to fly.
Out of the box a great looking plane Very good instrution manual easy build It took 2 clicks on the elevator 1 on the rudder and flying perfect Excellent hatch and so much room inside and the struts are great 71 inch wingspan WOW ! is all I can say
Purchased the Arrows Husky and was surprised at the size. It's BIG! I was looking for a fun easy to fly airplane and I found it! Went together very easy. I did replace the hard foam tires with Dubro 5" inflatable tires and glad I did. The Maiden flight was without issues. 2 Clicks of down trim and it flew straight and level. The visibility in the air is great. Very easy to see and got an easy 5 minutes flight time with a 3200 30C battery. I would recommend this airplane to anyone looking for something that is a blast to fly, easy to see and a price point that cannot be beat!
I did a pre-order and this plane was worth the wait. Attractive color scheme and parts fit was excellent except for a misinformed landing gear. A short e-mail and the replacement part was on its way for an above and beyond customer service experience. Very much appreciated! I added plug in MPX connectors on the wings since I need to remove them to transport the plane to and from my flying field.
For some reason my plane required a bit of nose weight to balance even with a 4s 3000 pack. I chose to replace the standard prop and spinner with the prop and spinner from a P-38 Flightline plane. Prop is 12" 3 blade and the spinner is just a bit larger than the stock. I painted the spinner black so its difficult to tell. Plenty of power and with 3/4 throttle this plane will knife edge! Be very careful landing with or without flaps as this bird will stall. Mine falls straight ahead though. I tried a take off with partial flaps and the plane jumped into the air at less than 1/3 throttle. That maneuver almost cost me the plane but this jewel pulled out and just kept flying.
One of the most interesting planes I have flown in my many years in RC. I would not call this a beginner airplane though because of the challenging landing and slow flight characteristics. Having said that any pilot with a bit of experience and attention to stalls should find this plane a ton of enjoyment. Overall a great value for a larger electric that is well made and is challenging enough to keep pilots interests. One cannot go wrong purchasing this plane. I am considering clipping the wings just to see how it flys!
This plane went together better than any plane I have. Fit and finish were excellent. Just one problem is that it was a bit tail heavy.
Very well made, great details and easy to assemble. The plane will do anything the pilot asks. I have only two issues. The big tires are too hard causing the plane to bounce during landings. My batteries are overheating after only 5 minutes of normal flight. I think a higher rated ESC for this plane would remedy this issue. all in all a very good deal for the money.
The Husky has a strong presence at the field and in the air. It eye catching color scheme is the envy at the field. I had no trouble with its flying capabilities, it was very relaxing. It is a plane that I plan on flying for a very long time.
flys like a dream. I am also setting it up to pull advertising banners.
Such a nice plane . Last weekend it got praise from the club Vice President saying how beautiful it was in the air. My favorite thing to do with it is do a touch and go as slow as possible. It almost comes to a stop in the air. Dan at Arrows always has a great product that I always enjoy to fly.

This is one very solid airplane. Assembly was about an hour with much of it already done for you including a very solid set of landing gear. I have gotten use to as3x in our gusty location and plan on installing it from an old Timber that's laying around. I have 2 days on it without the stabilization and it does not have to have it. It just makes a shaky old man look better. I would buy it again. Great color scheme and easy to see. Thanks Hobby Zone!
Out of the box this is one great looking plane. Mine arrive without any damage and all parts were included. I had pre ordered mine so I had to wait for a while to receive the kit but as soon as HZ showed it in stock I received a shipping notice. The plane is very well packed and it arrived completely damage free and with all parts accounted for.
This plane is a very easy assembly even for a beginner. One thing I did not like with this plane is a lack of wing wiring plug in. Connecting all of those wires when installing the wings is a pain in my opinion. I solved that by installing MPX connectors. At the price point for this plane I was more than happy to deal with this issue as this plane is without question a great value.
The only problem I had with my kit was a misinformed landing gear making installation impossible. I e-mailed Hobbyzone Customer Support after hours and was notified the next morning that replacement gear was on the way! This in itself was above and beyond great customer service. I was expecting gear that would need to be assembled using parts from the existing gear, but nope HZ sent me a compete landing gear!
This is a large plane and needs to be flown like one. To my surprise it will do knife edge flight and turns, all at about 1/2 throttle! Once I settled on the correct CG plane flys inverted and is very aerobatic. I use a Zippy 4s 3000 mah battery for about 6 mins of mixed throttle flight time. I did need to add some nose weight to achieve the cg I wanted. So a larger battery would be very possible and this plane can handle the extra weight. I have about 30 flights on mine so far and the only thing I do not like are the hard wheels. I am going to find some soft tires to make landing a bit more forgiving.
Very nice plane, attractive and with an incredible price for a large plane. Hobby Zone is a vendor the hobbyist is very fortunate to have and I will buy from HZ again.
Arrived in perfect condition. Flies great . Smooth and easy to fly. I have 3 planes and the husky is my new favorite.
Very nice construction easy to put together like it
Packaging was outstanding with no damage.
If someone is looking for a beautiful plane with a strong appearance in the sky, this is the plane for that person. There was very little trimming necessary once I got her in the air. In the air she flew smooth and this was with a 8 MPH wind on that day. And when it came time to land her, I was surprise myself that I did not bounce her during my landing. I have a plane I fly often and I still occasionally bounce on my landing. I would not hesitate purchasing this plane again.
I'm new to the hobby of remote-control aeronautics, and so far, I've found only two reliable paths to getting the right advice about parts and setup. You either have to read a LOT of material in a hurry, or, if you're lucky, find someone who's willing to devote a fair amount of their own time to guide and instruct you.
When I first contacted Dan at HobbyZone he picked up the phone on the first ring and proceeded to point me towards the right plane, accessories, and advice before I could even get a question in. He's got a wealth of experience he's willing to share and on more than one occasion has spent an hour chatting on the phone. He's extremely personable; the kind of guy you'd like to go fly with on a Sunday afternoon, or share a beer with, or both.
As for HobbyZone, they've got an excellent selection of planes for all levels of experience, and the parts to fix them when something gets in their way. Their prices are more than fair compared to the other big-name suppliers, but the difference is they make sure you're only getting what you really need when it comes time to order. It should also be said that their shipping is blazing fast! I received a shipment of some batteries and a few other minor parts via FedEx on a Saturday when I was anticipating their arrival on the following Tuesday. And this wasn't a one-off incident. Dan has made sure my packages arrived ahead of time on at least half a dozen occasions.
Trust HobbyZone. They're worthy of it. And if you're not convinced that they've got the best combination of service, advice, inventory, and value you've got a few alternatives to check out. But I think one phone call to Dan will make you a believer. HobbyZone's by far the best!
Very nice plane, reasonably priced, great flyer, has good power and does what it said it would. looking forward to many more flights. Would definitely recommend.
I received my husky in June looks awesome, easy to build and it flies like a big plane. Its a great price for this size of plane and all you need to do is put a receiver and a battery and your
flying
Dan was very helpful my plane was late not his fault the U.S. mail was not at its best every time I called him he got right on it and got back to me I never talk to a machine I have nothing but good things to say about this man and his company will be a customer of his for a long time Thank You.
This Husky by Arrow is an excellent plane in all categories: looks, performance, durability, price assembly,& size. For its size ,about the only plane I know that flies on a 4s lipo.
Grand flyer. Looks great in the air and on the ground. I am not ready to fly this yet, so had my instructor fly it. His opinion is: great flyer, preforms great when all adjustments were made. Love it. He hasn't been wrong yet....!
A plane of this size for this price has to be a bargain in anyones book...even moreso with Labor Day sale discount...have several Arrows planes....they fly great, look great & they will, no doubt get alot more of my $$$ in the future....
This plane is easy plane to fly. It looks great both in the air an on the ground.
We programed the elevator to interact with the flaps so the we could have better control of the plane when using the flaps. again a great flyer.
This appealed to me because of the size and price and it uses a 14.8v battery. I like the design and livery. I have always wanted a larger plane but did not want to put out the cash for the CZ. Especially running on a 6s. I have plenty of 4s. It went together very easily. She took to the air with no adjustments and flies beautifully. I get 9 minutes on a 3000mah. She does wing tip on landings, which I broke off the tip of one wing, no big deal. I do have to remove one wing for transport. Love this plane.
Great finish on foam. Fit and finish very nice. Very nice value for the money.
Outstanding service. Dan was extremely helpful and knowledgable.
the first thing that cought my eye was the whole scheme on the plane, beautiful colors. Then the size of it for the money, great price on such a big plane. When received, and unbound, i was not disappointed. It is a beauty and built strong. The landing gear very sturdy and strong. The build was very fast, i have been in the rc hobby for over 20 years so it only took me about an hour to put it together bind it to my receiver and get the surface settings dialed into my radio. When I took it to the field it was all eyes on, and the compliments poured in about the size, price and looks. I was a bit nervous on the first flight as all maidens are. But it took to the air and it flew as if to have as3x in it but didn't, it took very little trim almost none at all and flew like on rails. It took very little flap elevator mix, way less than what I saw on you tube reviews. The landings were effortless and can dead stick land if want to, flaps not needed, they are just for scale looks.
They say 4 s 2200 battery but dont waiste your time with a battery that small on this plane, i am using a 4 s 4000 up to the edge of the plywood where the battery goes forward and the CG per the manual is spot on and flies awsome there.
The only things I did not care about:
The wings do not have the quick connect where they plug in when you put the wings on, you have to feed the 3 wires into the fuse when putting together and taking apart which is not a deal breaker,
The control surface horns are glued in again no deal breaker, but on a plane this size would have thought they would have control horns that had screws through the surfaces to secure them better. So check those for secureity, if your not doing any 3d stuff which it really doesn't have the power for and just flying around no problem.
The ball link where screwed into the control horns are attached with small wood screws, and on one aileron the screw was stripped so I replaced all with metal clevaces and better control rods about a $3.00 fix.
All in all I am tempted to buy another just to have shouk they discontinue it. Woukd be nice if these hobby stores would give you a discount for your reviews, they do help sell right? This is defenately the go to plane for me when going to the field. You will not be disappointed if high wing is your cup of tea
Great customer service they took care of my needs. easy build in less than 1 hour. flies so good that other club member purchased the husky. flies great with 4200 4s lipo.
I paired the Husky with a 637T receiver and set it up with SAFE because I'm a new RC flyer. I couldn't be happier with this plane. I fly in the desert, on the natural, unimproved surface. The flaps are fantastic for short take-offs and landings, and the large wheels smooth out the bumps well. I love doing aerobatics with the husky because the flight is very scale-like and smooth. The SAFE mode has rescued the plane a few times when I have gotten out of control or lost orientation. This plane is very rugged, having survived a landing mishap into sagebrush with one wing. It flipped the plane around, striking the rudder hard enough to strip the servo gears, but didn't break the rudder. The replacement servo was shipped quickly and was easy to replace.
I have been using 4S 4200 mah batteries with no problems with the extra weight, and getting 20 to 25 minutes flight times.
I love the Husky so much I bought another on to keep on hand in case I crash this on beyond repair!
I just love this plane. Easy to build and an excellent flyer. Great job ARROWS.
It has been a long time since I purchased a high wing airplane. I flew the Husky belonging to a friend and was hooked. This bird thinks it is a pattern plane. Knife edge flight, snap rolls, you name it. A stabilized receiver makes for remarkable performance. With the right three bladed prop and battery, almost unlimited vertical performance. I highly recommend this airplane!
Great plane for the money, big and is a head turner at the field. Goes together easily.
Only thing inwould suggest is for them to do the quick connects on the main wings. And upgrade the power system so it is a 6s plane instead of 4s, and include floats.
The plane flies great im using 4s 4000 and cg is spot on.
I've only flown it off the water so far, just received my snow skies yesterday. Can't wait to fly it off the snow...
Very nice plane, well constructed an large for the price.Flys great an looks great.
Its a large plane but yet has a feather lightness to it also can fly in a light wind at nearly a standstill with the flaps on. And inverted it is fantastick i Love thisvb plane has good power takes of in 5 ft of runway no ptoblem and flys any way you ask it to.
Love this plane !!! Fly's so easy.
I first bought the Bigfoot after seeing it on YouTube. It’s a great flying plane. Assembly was easy. I liked it so much, I bought a second one. I then bought the Husky, again a great flying plane and easy to assemble. Only one complaint, one of the wing lights is not lit. I left a message to see if there is a fix and never got a call back. Maybe some one will still call, otherwise both planes are great.
hello all! I just got into the hobby and I am 15. this lovely plane is my first rc aircraft ever and i honestly couldn't be happier! to start off this is an excellent flying airplane. this plane performs great in both high AND low speeds while maintaining great maneuverability. i love big rc planes and this is honestly a bargain for something this big. it handles wind great and hard landings greater with its beefy landing gear. the flaps can be very effective and can do basic aerobatics like nothin! this plane in my opinion is a great 1st or second aircraft and can be a heap of fun for all experience levels.
I loved the looks of this airplane when I first saw it, and decided to purchase one. I have always flown nitro planes, but for the price, which included motor and servos, big wheels, prop, spinner, and everything, ready to fly except for radio and battery, this is a great deal for a great looking plane. I plan on purchasing the Big Foot next. With the cost of nitro fuel, and you have to buy servos and engine on a nitro ARF, This is the very best way to go. I got the PNP version and used my own radio. Very happy with my Husky.
Impossible to beat for the money. Easy to fly yet nimble enough for good aerobatics. Wish I had bought the Special Edition instead but have purchased the parts to upgrade this one to 5 cell. Fast and powerful as is with 4 cell but I have a need for speed! Buy one, you will not regret it. If I have only one complaint it would be the difficulty of removing the wings due to wiring but I just load it in the bed of my truck so no real need to do so.
Hobbyzone shipped ,no damage and arrived before scheduled delivery date. Take my advice and spend a little more money and get the advanced version..you will be glad u did. Hobbyzone does it right thanks guys!!
I have watched lots of reviews and waited a long time for a sale. I am not a flyer yet but now have this in my hanger along with the Arrows Bigfoot, Corsair and P-47D. I like the detail and build quality of the Arrows planes. Will get the T-28 next
It's nearly as fun as my Night Timber X and actually is the easiest plane to fly inverted I own. I've already have the parts to upgrade this plane to 5s and will be doing so soon. Coated with a coat of clear Polycrylic makes this plane even more beautiful and protects all that great paint as well. Great job Hobby Zone!
I maidened the Husky about a week ago and that went really well. Flying it with 5000 mAh batteries that I already had for my SuperViper jet. No trimming was necessary and the plane just flies perfectly well. Feels like an old friend already, just so easy to control. Power is plenty. I did change the prop for a nice carbon Aeronaut high efficiency prop (14x6). It suits the plane really well I think. If I would call out one negative, it would be the transportability: the plane is huge and the only car it fits in is our family SUV. Taking it apart is a hassle And you really dob’t want to do that too often. Overall very happy with this purchase!
This plane was easy to assemble. No glue. Went together in minutes. Flies very steady. As good power. Would recommend.
Not all that sold on the way the wings attach to the fuselage... any damage to one almost guarantees damage to both the wings and the fuselage. Although very roomy under the hatch it is also very "busy" with all the single wire connections. Instruction manual gives you "just enough info". suggestions as to how to hook up the lights would be helpful.
First, I am an experienced model airplane builder and flyer, so when I read the May "Model Aviation" review, I thought the Husky would be a fun airplane for lazy days at our club field. Following the usual review format, the package arrived double boxed with all components well protected in molded foam cradles. Upon inspection everything looked good and all parts accounted for. So, after perusing the short manual, assembly began using my preferred order. With the fuselage in my foam cradle, the tail group was bolted in place. Vertical and horizontal surfaces aligned perfectly with each other. With the fuselage upside down, the wings were slipped onto the center rod next, at which time the only assembly issue occurred. It took considerable pressure to try and line up the front mounting holes and insert the mounting screw. I discovered the effort caused the wing leading edges to crush the ends of the canopy part of the battery hatch. After a light sanding of the canopy ends to make them flush with the rest of the wing mount, and repainting with a custom mix grey, the wings fit snugly with the mounting holes lined up. With the wings now in place, a check of the wing-tail alignment was right on. Next, the receiver was installed, the servos centered and the linkages adjusted to center all surfaces. Throws and rates were adjusted per the manual; 20% flap to elevator was mixed in as suggested in one of the video reviews, and a tentative aileron to rudder mix to try for turn coordination. Finally, the landing gear was installed and the plane set up to balance with my intended battery pack. I did extend the rear hold down slots in the battery tray forward to insure a good grip with the velcro strap on the back end of the battery. One final mod was to add a small NiMh battery and electronic switch to operate the lights independently. My airframe weight ended up at 67.5 Oz, plus a 12.05 Oz 4s/4000mAH battery, for an estimated 15.5 oz/ft2 wing loading. Now just waiting for a temperature below 100 here in south central Texas, and a time to fly within coronavirus rules.
Product arrived promptly and was well packaged. Assembly was simple and straightforward. Flight was very cub-like as you might expect. Plenty of power and moderate aerobatic ability. My only negative was the EXTREMELY hard wheels and stiff landing gear. Almost impossible not to bounce landings, even on a grass runway.
I couldn't review the amount of use as I have yet figured how to get it into my van without removing the wings..... All my other planes have either no issue or the wing comes out in 1 piece with nylon bolts.
plane looks great my friends who have seen it all remark how nice and "BIG" it is. (Put's the big foot to shame)
I expect it to fly as well as it looks.
I was used to the Big Foot as a few members have them at our field. I ordered the Husky thinking I wanted something a bit bigger, boy how big........ I have a van that I use STRICTLY for planes. I cannot fit the Husky any way any door without taking the wings off. Please be advised this is a BIG bird and assembly and dis-assembly will need to be done each time unless you are pulling a trailer.
This is the first larger plane I have had and it has been fantastic. The only flaw I have found was operator error. I parked it in a tree and it took the hit very well. The planes damage was more from getting it out of the tree than crashing into it.
Took Husky out for maiden flight. On the maiden flight as soon as I tried some rudder moves the rudder came off. The so called "foam" hinge is worthless. When I landed and saw what had happened I was astounded the rest of the control surfaces had not failed.
This is a serious design flaw.
I spent the next hour taping all the hinge lines with Blenderm, which really annoyed me.
The plane looks great and fly's great. But, wing wiring and hookup could have been better. It takes to long to put the wings on. Wheels are hard and plane bounces hard on landing. On about the tenth flight plane went totality out of control and crashed. Cause was shorted ESC. ESC was smoking and burned a 1/2" into the foam. I was able to rebuild the plane but crash should never have happened.
Great looking plane, especially with a coat of gloss Polyacrylic. Trial fit was good. Will fly soon as the "restrictions" are loosened.
A plane of this size, of this quality for this price...and on sale over labor day to boot..., makes me think I should have waited & bought two....!
