This is a great flying plane. I need to say no more on that subject
This model is beautifully designed and detailed. The float structure is scale and very tough. There's lots of accurate scale detail that you can cosmetically enhance (like take a sharp sharpie to the door grooves) to make it realistic. I don't know what to do about the engine, however. It ought to have 9 cylinders!
Of the seaplanes I’ve flown, this is by far the easiest to do perfect scale landings. When I'm done wrestling and rescuing my other water toys, I take this one out to get the satisfaction I was looking for in the first place. Takeoffs realistically glide off the water with half flaps and half power.
I fly in salt water and I've always completely waterproofed everything electrical/electronic. This plane: not necessary! Just plug the holes in the firewall with styrofoam; then, the servo, ESC, receiver and battery will stay dry!
Foam is the way to go for any kind of water plane, especially the wings, because eventually you will flip it over. Balsa absorbs many times its own weight in water, and when it is trapped within the wings, it's tough to get it out. When this plane flips over, just right it and keep flying!
I made a canoe out of foam and rubber banded it to the cross struts on the floats. With a few miniature cases of Mooshead, it looks and flies like an Alaska bush plane.
This plane is just a blast to fly! It’s a very stable plane that can be flown very slow with the flaps down, but also moves right along if you want it to. No problem at all doing loops, rolls, and going inverted (okay, not scale flying at all, but you can do it with the Beaver). Slow flybys are a thing of beauty and it looks so scale in the air as it flies by. You can run a 2200 mAh battery in it with no problems. Get it, you won’t regret it.
Nice plane, but buy new screws before assembling. The ones that come with it are worse than worthless.
I love this plane. On the initial flight, it had unexpected power even though I had watched the reviews first. I took the wheels off and have had the floats on ever since. This is a really beautiful plane. A huge round of applause for the people at HobbyZone!
This plane is very impressive. The size is awesome. The power is great. You'll need a few extra batteries to keep it flying. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I'm not sure yet of its durability. I haven't crashed it yet, but I have been watching videos on YouTube. There are a few crashes I've seen that have been pretty bad. The other reason for 4 stars is the price. I'd like to see it brought down a little. All in all, it won't disappoint you.
The plane looks great. The lights and flaps also add appeal and flying ability. However, the elevator clevises are within the fuselage, and I haven't found out how to adjust them. To trim out the elevator, I have to trim it to the maximum setting on the transmitter and then still do not have a zero position. Therefore, the plane is unflyable until I razor blade and glue my way into the interior and adjust the control rods.
