I just started flying this year after spending the winter on the simulator. I have purchased and tried to fly 5 models. I have experienced many crashes and my skills at repair are now pretty good lol.I was enamored with warbirds(big mistake), and moved to a hawksky. That was much better but was still prone to tip stalls turning back into the wind. Went to a Champ great fun but could not handle much wind. Have a Stryker but lack the courage. Then comes the Stinson, and after a few crashes it became my new favorite, but still prone to tip stalls and bending the landing gear when landing. At one point I was ready to give up on the hobby.

Today I maidened the Flyzone Sensei. It was in 10 mph wind and handeled so easily I actually felt like I might make it in this hobby. To make a long story short, I would recommend any newbie to look at this model as a great trainer. It flies easily, but is very hard to tip stall. Happy flying!

The places available to fly from here are rough, mainly gravel roads or rough fields. This plane is the 1st to have sturdy enough landing gear to survive undamaged. It flies well, looks very nice in the air, and can survive just about any hard landing. Be careful using the drop system. It has sharp wires etc that will snag anything put in it. I had a chute hang up and nearly caused the plane to be destroyed. I put a small pill container secured by a string to hold the chute. It deployed without snagging and the chute opens every time. A great trainer!

The Sensei was my first plane with ailerons, and I recommend it as a trainer. I am a somewhat reckless pilot and have crashed my plane a few times. I had to rebuild it and it flew well even then. I made a tail dragger out of it, which I like much better than as a tryke. I like it so well, I plan to buy another one.

I Like This Plane

I have two years of experience with foam planes, and many of the hobby stores do not carry the parts needed to make repairs. Hobby Zone has most of the parts needed. Check the parts list before buying a plane. I have about 30 planes and a plane salvage yard from many crashes. This plane is a dream to fly; it performs very well. I have had it in 17 MPH wind, and it handled very well. The plane has excellent landing gear and performs well on rough surfaces. It is easy on batteries too. It can get about 10 minutes on a battery at half-throttle with plenty of power to perform.

Great Aileron Trainer

This plane is a great aileron trainer. It has enough power for loops, immelmans, rolls, and even some basic inverted flying. It floats its way through landings. There are no tip stalling tendencies. I returned to R/C after a 30 year hiatus, and I fly the Sensei every weekend. I have experienced no crashes, and the landings are smooth. I fly off asphalt, so I am not worried about the landing gear durability. Great, fun plane!

I bought mine in the winter and waited patiently for outdoor flying. It flew great the first three times out. Then the ESC went up in smoke. I replaced it and the same thing happened two more times. Finally after about 2 minutes in the air, the motor started to screech, and I lost all control. It would not answer the transmitter. The end result was a fatal crash. Here is my ratings for the first plane:

I sent it back to FlyZone, and they kindly replaced the entire plane. I guess I had the same problems as rcflyer09. The replacement flies like a dream. I would recommend this plane to anyone and also praise the manufacturer for the fantastic customer service. Now, I would give the plane five stars across the board.

I have been flying a Nitroplanes Dynam 1200mm J3 Piper Cub and a Banana Hobby 1400mm J3 Cub for 2 1/2 years now and continually practicing on a simulator for about that long. The two planes fly well, but the Sensei is by far a much better aircraft in quality, performance, durability and FUN! Great design by Flyzone!

This is a great, fun plane, though the motor isn't long lasting. I put the motor out of my Corsair in it, part # FLZA6300, using matching prop #FLZA6302. Wow, what a long-lasting hot rod it is now. That motor fits with no problems. Have fun!

This is an excellent 4-channel trainer plane. It is fairly simple but has great flight characteristics. If you want to make it even better, add one of the new gyro or stability systems.

Motors and Speed Control Are Lousy

I owned one of these last year. Although it flew very well, I was always having problems with the motor and electronic speed control! They were constantly burning out. I ordered another set, and that set burned out also. This happened four times. If they have taken care of these inferior motor and speed controls by now, then I would purchase this plane again.
