  • F4U-4 Corsair 1100mm PNP

The F4U-4 is the last of the legendary Corsairs to serve in WWII. Delivered to the United States Navy in early 1945, the F4U-4 is powered by a Pratt and Whitney R2800-18W supercharged Twin Wasp engine- pushing 2100 horsepower. Retaining the six 12.7mm guns and load carrying capabilities of the F4U-1D, the F4U-4 achieved an unbelievable 11:1 kill ratio during its service life.

We are proud to announce a faithful recreation of the F4U-4 in 1100mm wingspan form- complete with a realistic 4-bladed propeller, removable auxiliary fuel tanks, tail-hook, functional flaps, retractable landing gear and LED light kit. Power comes from a 3536-850 KV motor with a 40A ESC, giving swift ample power when needed.

All of the internals are stock. Powered by an Admiral 3S 2600mAh 30C lipo, the weight of this 3-cell battery (211 grams) with an additional 28 grams of ballast affixed to the underside of the removable battery tray was enough to meet the manual's recommended 60mm CG. Flown with a Spektrum DX8 G2 Transmitter and using a Lemon RX "LM033" DSMX 7-Channel Stabilizer / Receiver.

With excellent stock 3S performance, quality materials, manufacturing, as well as having flaps, retracts, and lights right out of the box, the Arrows RC F4U-4 Corsair is a great value and hard to pass up for $169. I also felt right at home piloting this one - just a very solid warbird with no bad habits, and a real sweetheart to fly.

I got this as my first plane even though it's not really a good idea to start with a warbird, this plane flies really stable and responsive with a 2600 3s. Has all the power it needs with just the stock setup and can also fly reasonably slow. The looks are amazing as well and really easy to put together. Just make sure your controls are set up right before you fly and always do a preflight check.

This appears to be the same with minor changes as the Durafly 1100mm Corsair which is one of the reasons I purchased this one. The quality is top notch and it flies awesome! I am flying mine with a 2200 mah 4S 60C battery. To get this in I had to leave out the handy little slide in battery tray. I placed a block of foam behind the battery to block it in instead. This planes C.G. is right on with this battery and no additional nose weight required. I am using an Approx. 250 gram battery. I wasn't a fan of the snakes so I did remove them and color matched and painted the cowl blue. This plane flies really well and with the addition of 4S it really hauls. I also changed out the esc with a 50 amp unit. The flaps are relatively small so you can really hang them out and they are only moderately effective. No elevator mixing required. The lights are super bright which is great! The landing gear work well but I did already have some minor issues after a semi hard bounce. Probably a good idea to keep an extra set on hand as well as a few spare props. The blades break easily. This is an excellent rendition of an iconic warbird that everyone recognizes. Every model pilot should have one!

honestly I'm very impressed with this plane, it flys so scale and the retracts work beautifully. The rudder can break pretty easily but the rest of the plane is pretty tough. It lawn darted after i lost the elevator ( due to a poor connection which was my fault) and i assumed that I was going to be picking up pieces but no. All it did was break the prop. I could not believe how nothing was damaged after lawndarting from 50 feet. Dive bombing this plane is so fun and if you do the full flap mod you can fly this plane unbelievably slow. Awesome plane especially for the price.

I have recived the Corsair , nice packet, with cushion material , all parts very well packed. The initial apparence of the Corsair is wonderfull. All parts come together , engine , servos , pushrods , we have only to put the stab with glue and we are ready . The EG work ok with a 2000 lipo battery 11.1 , plenty of power , nice fly no bad tendency . The gear work fine very robust . I only have some problem with the grass and the 4 prop in the grass running . The same problem when coming back to earth the airplane is designed to payment runaways , or very smoth airfields. Tacking these small problems the airplane fly super , very linear , nice low passes the power is in the 3/4 to 1/2 power . About 6 minutes fly. i will recomend the airplane nice quality , and the foam is compact and has a beatiful scale apparence .

I am flying several Arrows planes from Hobbyzone and love them all.  They are all of the quality equal to brands costing twice as much.  I have actually wore out two Vipers and am on my third.  I just love this plane.  I have only had one issue with a faulty retract on my Corsair and Dan sent a replacement right away.  Just yesterday I received a Vector Gyro I am looking forward to installing in my Bigfoot.  I can't say enough about Hobbyzone's planes, great value, quality, and you can call and talk direct to Dan.  Great service,

This plane flies nice . I have flown it on 4s with short periods of full power for added speed, although It does fly the best with the recommended 3s battery. At first it felt a little bit elevator sensitive until I got used to it. Take offs require mandatory use of rudder. During landings a small amount of power is desirable with or without flaps or else it will drop out on you. Excellent value. You get a lot of nice details for the money. I only wish it had full flaps instead of outboard flaps. So far all the Arrows planes I have perform very well, and have nice scale details.

This is a very well-built scale 1100mm F4U Corsair that runs well on 3S which is what everyone already has in their lipo inventory. Hobby Zone delivery is fast and assembly is easy and I got mine on air in an hour. My favorite part is landing and looking at this aircraft while landing is just awesome! It really made me smile while landing!!!...Rotating retracts are fantastic though I wish the tail retracts too..But this scale warbird overall is now my favorite and I'm sure it will be yours too if you get one!...

Great looking kit out of the box. Lot of really great scale detail that made it easy to correlate back to the full scale bird for the Racer mods.   Only reason I give it a slight ding on quality was the stock plastic gear analog servos that come with the plane,  specifically the elevator didn’t center very well.  In flight that results in then plane hunting a little in pitch.  Easy swap out to a 9g digital metal gear,  no hogging out foam or trimming the tray.   It DOES fly fine on a 4S 2400mah as long as you aren’t running it WOT the whole time.  The ECS and Motor do heat up some if you’re really wailing on it.  But at those speeds it stops looking scale IMHO.

...you want around for a good long time. HZ got it to me very quickly. Been flying helis alot lately so needed to brush up on my fixed wing skills. I wouldn't recommend this model to a brand new flyer. It being a low wing tail dragger. So before I maidened the Corsair I dusted off the old Arrows (HZ) T-28 Trojan and cleared cobwebs. That said the F4U-4 Corsair is a really REALLY nice flyer. With the added bonus of looking sharp. Very satified.

Arrows RC makes a great product that is backed by friendly service and advice.    I’ve been wanting a Corsair for a few years and have finally added the beautiful f4u to my growing Arrows RC collection.    Plenty of spares available and technical assistance is a phone call away.     So far I have enjoyed an arrows 182 trainer, Bigfoot, Bearcat, T-33 50mm edf and now my Corsair still waiting to be put together and flown.     It should be a fun spring.

Adding to my collection of WarBirds. I am again impressed with the quality and ease of assembly of all the models that have purchased from Horizon Hobby.  Spektrum gear and batteries are always a perfect match for each and every model. Thank you HH. For bringing the best to the RC. world.
Note: Horizon Hobby has nothing to do with this plane. This is ArrowsRC a completely different company.

This is by far the stablest plane I have ever flown. I own the Arrows P-51 "Detroit Miss" and this corsair, so I have something to compare it to. It is better in two ways:

    1) Landings:
Landings with this plane are by far easier then the Mustang. Even in a bit of wind. The Mustang would always get a bit tricky at low speeds, especially with a small wind. Not this Corsair. It has a much better balance, the wings are a little thicker, and it is all around very stable.

    2) Battery compartment:
Unlike the Mustang, this compartment in angles down so in the event of a crash, it doesn't slide forward and hit the moter mount. (believe me, this is important. I ruined 2 batteries in Mustang crashes because it would shoot forward and crush one end. It can explode if this happens. ) I can also fit a 3700 mAh 3-cell battery in there to give 10 minuets of flight time!!!

I would highly recommend this plane over the P-51. It flys sooooooooo much more smooth, and is just as agile. Can't think of a single reason not to get this plane.

IT'S EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND LET ME TELL YOU THIS IS ONE BAD ASS AIRCRAFT AIRCRAFT!!! THE ONLY THING I DID IS I CHANGED OUT THE WHEELS TO DAVE BROWN TIRES.. I HAD A MACHINE TO SENDER HUBS DOWN TO GET THEM TO FIT ON THE AXLES AND DRILL THEM AND PUT BRASS BUSHINGS IN THEM AND THAT'S IT... I'VE ALREADY GOT 15 FLIGHTS .. NOT ONE BAD LANDING NOT ONE CRASH...... I RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYBODY GET YOU ONE........ NOW!!!!

    A very nice Electric Corsair

My F4U arrived last week and it was an easy build with all parts and directions accurate. Very scale looking and operating model.

I was able to maiden fly it yesterday on a manicured grass field. Pre-flight check went well. A few clevis adjustments to even up the control surfaces. Set the throws close to those recommended. I would have liked the steerable tail wheel unit to be a little more robust?? Also the wing tank connections are weak. I'll probably not fly with them on. I don't think they would survive a wheels up landing?? First flight. Taxi and takeoff was smooth and no left turn that is usual with F4U's and WWII war-birds. I used a 3s 2600 battery which fit well in to the slide in tray. A nice touch! I needed very little trim adjustment to achieve level hands off flight once the gear was retracted. Another well designed function.

I flew several circles to test all the control function. Nice rolls, loops, 4 point rolls & barrel rolls, inverted flight and inside & outside loops. A well behaved and fun to fly craft. Next a few low runway passes to test flaps, which caused a slight up movement but I will not use any elevator mixing. I like to fly the plane! The first landing was smooth and showed no bad habits low throttle no flaps,( as with all electrics you must fly the plane on to the runway) touch down and roll out while holding full up elevator. The grass was a little long in spots on the runway and I did not want a nose over with a fragile Styrofoam vertical stab. I completed three more flights and continued to test all flight functions. VERY NICE CORSAIR!
I look forward to may enjoyable flights. I would like to tray a 3000Mah battery but the battery length make it difficult to fit the canopy tab into the notch??? So, I'll
stick to the 2600's which produced 6 minute flights. A great scale Corsair!!!

Last year we sold our house and moved into an apartment. As a result I sold all my glow and gas aircraft (17) since I no longer have a workshop and garage for storage I"m now building an all electric fleet to continue flying. A new learning and flying experience after 19 years.

Out boxed nicely and the kit was complete. One 9gram servo for the right aileron didn't work but I had a spare one and put it in and they work fine now. I am not a hot rod pilot so I put a lot of exponential throw decrease into the elevator and ailerons and that gives nice and stable flight for the maiden flight. Will fly it again. Not a lot of prop clearance when the tail wheel is off the ground so be sure to land as slow as possible to get the tail wheel down to avoid breaking a prop. Looks good in the air.

Beautiful bird and assembles easy enough. If your landings aren't perfect or runway gets rough the rotating gear don't like it. Flies well but cost me $40.00 every time i fly. I will have to rig static gear if there is to be a third.

I was really looking forward to flying this plane. The build and setup was easy.

However, I noticed that the tail wheel had about 5 degrees of play when turning the rudder??? The next problem was taxing with 2" wheels on the 1" grass manicured runway. The Corsair kept wanting to nose over unless you had 55% up elevator which, you have to reduce before liftoff or you'll stall. In 8 flights I never had a smooth gradual takeoff. ( I have been flying RC for 18 years and 8,000 flights) or landing. So! Yesterday after mowing the runway I took off. Climbed out and leveled off . When I heard a grinding noise. I immediately landed the F4U and only had three propeller blades.(I was able to land with three blades!!) One blade must have cracked in the nose-overs? Now I have a loose motor mount and damaged cowl. I may be able to fix the mount with Epoxy glue?
But I'm not sure it will fly better? I certainly do not want another plane , as it was never enjoyable flying this one! I flew three other similar sized electric planes with 2" wheels that day with no problems. It's a Shame that a plane that looks so good on the ground and in the air is so difficult to take off and land. It is probably the light weight of the plane? Every landing resulted in a nose over unless I could get the elevator in high rates immediately after touch down? Oh! the Tail wheel play also makes taxing difficult? There is obviously a loose connection between the Rudder post and the tail wheel? I REALLY WANTED AN ELECTRIC CORSAIR!!!

    Flies Well, Bad Landing Gear

I've been flying this plane for about a year and decided to write a review that could help a potential buyer. Looks great, especially with a coat of clear satin. Flown with 4s and 3s, in my opinion 3s feels more scale and frankly the plane is so light 4s isn't necessary for aerobatics. Speaking of light, this is not a fun plane on gusty days. As others mentioned the tail wheel has excessive play, so ground handling is pretty bad. Now for my biggest issue with this Corsair, the retracts are much too weak. I've replaced both sides twice and refuse to do it again (as if they were available, I believe I'm not the only one with this particular issue). Flying with wheels down looks dumb and has compromised performance. You may be thinking, "hey buddy, learn how to land", but even greased landings can cause them to fold, if they decided to come down at all. The retract mechanism is unreliable and the plastic parts are easily broken. If I was able to find more robust landing gear this plane would be a hit, unfortunately with the stock gear it has become a hanger queen.
